22th IncluDE Lunch Seminar PRIDE MONTH special version① was held

The 22th IncluDE Lunch Seminar was held on June 6, 2025.

The 22nd PRIDE MONTH special version① featured two presentations by SHIMIZU Akiko, FUKUNAGA Genya on the theme of diversity, including gender and sexuality. FUKUNAGA’s presentation materials are available in the archive.

In this lunch seminar, we reflected on the importance of protecting the rights of a wide range of minorities in the face of anti-gender and trans exclusion movements, and exchanged information on the evolution of Pride parades, which began as a social movement for sexual minorities.

After the two presentations, we shared information about the evolution and challenges of Pride parades in East Asia and within Japan. We also discussed what the University of Tokyo can do as an educational and research institution without being carried away by anti-DEI movements (anti-gender, anti-immigrant, racist, etc.).

※The IncluDE Lunch Seminars, organized by the Office for DEI Coproduction Strategies, have been held about twice a month since the establishment of IncluDE in April 2024. These seminars provide an opportunity for concurrent faculty and full-time members of IncluDE research divisions to share  their cutting-edge research in DEI-related areas.

The seminars aim to generate new insights  for both practice and research by bringing together faculty members who are researching various minority issues, including not only barrier-free and gender/sexuality issues but also nationality, ethnicity, religion, language, and others, fostering a frank exchange of opinions.
